The hotel draws its identity and name from the historic Savoy Theatre, an Art Deco cinema
and performance venue that opened on the exact site in 1935. Over its 50-year run, the
theatre hosted iconic music acts like Eric Clapton and Roy Orbison before closing in 1988.
The modern hotel opened in 2006 to continue the legacy of upscale hospitality under the
Savoy name.
